N. CHARLESTON, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays defeated the Pee Dee Pride 4-2 Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Joe Tenute gave South Carolina a 1-0 lead at the 12:20 mark of the first period, scoring a power-play goal. Nick Boucher made the initial pad save on Tenute's first shot, but the rebound came right back to the rookie, and he flipped it behind Boucher for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. The Stingrays doubled the lead at 16:06. Matt Elich skated down the right-wing side and his quick shot from the circle trickled past Boucher to make it 2-0.

Just 12 seconds later, the Pride cut the deficit in half. Kirk Daubenspeck made the initial save of Tony Johnson's shot from the right point, but the rebound settled on the stick of Kyle Kidney on the far post, and he buried it past the Stingrays' goaltender for his fifth goal of the season.

The Pride tied the game at 11:42 of the second period. Skating two men short, Jan Vodrazka fed Brian Collins on a breakaway. Collins was able to slide a shot underneath Daubenspeck for the Pride's ECHL-leading fifth shorthanded goal of the season.

South Carolina retook the lead at 12:57, scoring its second power-play goal of the game. Mark Ardelan's shot from the right-wing circle was tipped in by Matt Reid, giving the former Pride player his fifth goal of the season.

Reid gave the Stingrays a two-goal advantage with 56.9 seconds remaining in the second period. Mike Jickling won a face off in the Pride zone, and Reid gathered in the loose puck behind the net. His first wrap-around attempt was stopped by Boucher, but the second attempt found the back of the net to make it 4-2 heading to the third period.

The Pride return home on Saturday, hosting Columbia at 7:30. Prior to the game, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be in the civic center parking lot from 5:00 until 7:00. Fans can have their picture taken with a $1 donation to the Pride Youth Hockey Association. Nextel Cup Series driver Jeff Burton will be in attendance to drop the ceremonial first puck. During the second intermission, the Pride will hold the eighth annual Wiener Dog Nationals, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a free coozie courtesy of Micky Finn's.
