Stingrays Close Road Trip with 3-2 Loss in Cincinnati

Cincinnati, OH - The South Carolina Stingrays (27-19-1-1) wrapped up a three-game road trip Saturday night, but could not move past the Cincinnati Cyclones (21-14-0-6), falling 3-2 at U.S. Bank Arena.

Stingrays forward Mike Hamilton kicked off the scoring on the power play at 14:37 of the first period tapping a pass from forward Maxime Lacroix past the right pad of Cyclones goaltender Brad Fogal (W, 25 saves on 27 shots). Defenseman Johann Kroll grabbed the second assist. Less than a minute later, Cyclones forward Dan Eves tied the contest with a shorthanded marker from defenseman Jeremy Klaver at 15:06. With 28 seconds to play in the period, Cyclones defenseman Maury Edwards made it 2-1 on the man advantage firing a shot between the legs of Stingrays netminder Philipp Grubauer (L, 14 saves on 17 shots) from the right-wing point. Forwards Matthew Sisca and Mathieu Aubin earned the assists.

The Stingrays tied it back up at the 12:00 minute mark of the second frame when forward David de Kastrozza lifted a shot over the right shoulder of Fogal from forward Matt Scherer and Kroll.

Cyclones forward Mathieu Aubin netted the game-winning goal at 13:46 of the final period from forwards Jonathan Hazen and Michael Pelech. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-7 on the power play while the Cyclones went 1-for-2.
