
Condors Fall to Eagles

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles (23-16-1-4, 51pts) used a three-goal first period to cruise to a 6-3 win over the Bakersfield Condors (10-31-4-1, 25pts) in front of 4,338 at Rabobank Arena Friday night.
After two fights in the first 62 seconds warmed up the crowd, Colorado cooled them off with a pair of goals by F Joey Sides and F Adam Chorneyko over the next six minutes. D Ben Chiarot snapped home a tally a few minutes later to make it 3-0. Shots were 17-5 Co lorado in the period.
Bakersfie ld cut into the lead in the second frame when F Tyler Helfrich scored at 12:22 to make it 3-1. But the Eagles responded with two goals in the next five minutes to take a commanding 5-1 lead thro ugh 40 minutes.
Condors rookie D Tyson Gimblett notched his second goal of the season at 6:17, cutting the lead down to 5-2. Then LW Kyle Calder added a tally at 15:27 to make it 5-3, but an Eagles goal just 18 seconds later quelled the Condors hopes for a comeback.
