IN JUST A FEW HOURS...

The Elmira Jackals welcome the Chicago Express to First Arena for the first time ever, with the puck dropping at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals rallied from two goals down on Friday in the third period in Wheeling, with Matt Campanale tying the game against the Nailers with two seconds left to force overtime and eventually a shootout. Wheeling outscored Elmira in the shootout, 2-1, to earn the 4-3 victory. The Express, an expansion team playing in their first season, enter tonight's contest on a four-game winning streak, most recently defeating the Trenton Titans on Thursday, 6-3.

FORMER JACKALS RETURN TO FIRST ARENA

Tonight's game has been one of the most anticipated contests at First Arena this season. The Express are led by Steve Martinson, who coached the Jackals from 2007-2010 in their first three ECHL seasons. Tyler Donati, who was named the ECHL's MVP with Elmira in 2009-2010 after setting a club record with 114 points, leads Chicago and is fifth in the league with 48 points. He makes his return to First Arena tonight after skating parts of four seasons with the Jackals from 2008-2011. Chaz Johnson played parts of three seasons with Elmira from 2007-2010, leading the club with 250 penalty minutes in 2007-2008. Pierre-Luc Faubert was second on the Jackals with 76 points in 2007-2008 and led the squad with 57 points in 2008-2009. Other former Jackals making their return to First Arena tonight include Maxime Gratchev (59 games with Elmira), Nathan Lutz (42 games), Scott Wietecha (six games), and Brett Motherwell (two games).

POWER PLAY CATCHES FIRE

Elmira's power play has been red hot as of late, now checking in second in the league at 21.6%. Last night, the Jackals scored two times on the man advantage on three opportunities. Elmira has power-play goals in seven of the last eight games. Last season, Pat Bingham's Bridgeport Sound Tigers were fourth in the AHL on the power play at 20.9%.
