
Stingrays Add Defenseman Jake Areshenko

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has signed defenseman Jake Areshenko. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Areshenko, 24, completed his senior season at Bemidji State University adding four assists in 36 games. In 144 games over four seasons with the Beavers, the Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, native totaled four goals and 20 assists for 24 points and was named to the CHA All-Rookie Team in 2009-10 and WCHA All-Academic Team from 2010-13. Before joining the NCAA ranks, Areshenko played four total seasons of junior hockey with the Fargo Force of the USHL and Powell River Kings and Burnaby Express of the BCHL.
The Stingrays return to action Friday, March 22 at the North Charleston Coliseum for Hall of Fame Night presented by the Post and Courier and Fan Appreciation Night at 7:05 against the Gwinnett Gladiators! The first 1,000 fans receive a Stingrays 2012-13 team photo courtesy of Sheila Lauffer of Data Imaging. Friday also has FREE parking! Pick up four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and popcorn for $55 with a Stingrays Friday Family Four Pack at the Coliseum Box Office! Arrive early for Hockey Happy Hour with $2 beer from 6-7 and college tickets are $5 with valid ID! The Blood Alliance is hosting a blood drive from 4:30-7:30. All donors receive Stingrays prizes!
