Willmar Stingers News Release
Willmar, Minn. - Bismarck comes into Willmar and takes Game 1 of the two-game weekend series by a final score of 3-2.
The Larks scored twice in the first inning, after Willmar starter George Arias walked three consecutive batters, gave up an RBI single and RBI groundout. Bismarck added on with a solo home run in the third inning by Brody Tanksley. They did not score the rest of the game.
Willmar responded with one in the bottom of the first, after an error by Larks first baseman Derek Schoen scored Grant Kerry. Only one more run came in for the Stingers for the remainder of the game, and it was on an RBI double by Drey Dirksen into the left field corner.
Willmar's bullpen, which consisted of Damon Radebacher, Jon Mocherman and Colton Hamman, pitched six shutout innings, including Mocherman getting out of the eighth with the bases loaded.
Willmar falls to 2-3 on the second half and 18-23 overall. The Stingers look to split the series Sunday, July 11. First pitch from The Beehive is set for 5:05 p.m.
