Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - Traverse City lost another close game on Sunday, this another 2-1 loss to the Madison Mallards.

The loss marks four straight losses for the Pit Spitters, every game decided by one run. It's the second game against Madison in which they scored the first run of the game in the first inning but failed to score another run the rest of the game.

Tito Flores recorded an RBI single in the first, one of three hits in the game for the Michigan utility player.

Madison scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead and would hold that lead the rest of the way. For the second straight night, Miguel Useche was the only batter to reach against Madison's closer in the loss. Useche singled in the sixth for his second three-game hit streak this season.

Traverse City left nine runners on base, including the bases loaded in the third and fifth innings.

One of the bright spots was Morgan Lunceford. The 18-year-old pitched four perfect innings of relief out of the bullpen, his second straight scoreless appearance.

Mario Camilletti extended his on-base streak to 23 games with a walk.
