The Hamilton Bulldogs made their initial visit to Sarnia, but the Sting were anything but a gracious host as they beat the Bulldogs 2-1, in front of a Friday night crowd of 2,386 at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre.

Anthony Salinitri notched his third goal of the season at 4:24 of the third period and the Sting made it stand for the remainder of the game. Kevin Spinozzi scored the other goal for Sarnia.

Justin Fazio was terrific for Sarnia between the pipes, stopping all but one of the 21 shots he faced.

Nikita Korostelev, added a pair of assists to run his early season stats to 1-4-5, which has him in a three way tie, as the top point getter with the Sting, along with Troy Lajeunesse (4-1-5) and Jeff King (0-5-5). Both King and Lajeunesse added an assist in the win over the Bulldogs.

Mason Marchment scored the lone goal for Hamilton and goaltender Charlie Graham kept the Bulldogs in the game with 27 saves. Overall Sarnia out shot Hamilton 29-21.

The game was quite tame with only eight minor penalties assessed. Hamilton was 1 for 5 on the power play and Sarnia failed to convert on their three opportunities with the man advantage.

Spinozzi, scored the only goal in the opening frame at 12:25 with assists from both King and Korostelev. It was Spinozzi's first goal of the season and the Sting led 1-0 after 20 minutes. Each team had eight shots in the first stanza.

Hamilton tied the game early on in the second period on a power play from Marchment, his first of the season at 5:40. Stephen Harper and Michael Cramarossa drew the assists. Sarnia out shot Hamilton 12-8 in the period as the teams were deadlocked in a 1-1 tie.

That set the stage for Salinitri's game winner, with Korostelev and Lajeunesse contributing the assists.

Sarnia ran their modest winning streak to two in a row, with an overall record of 4-2-0.

The Sting, head back on the road for one game in Flint, against the new Firebirds on Saturday night, game time 7:30 pm, before returning back home for a Sunday afternoon tilt (2:05 pm) against David Nevin, the first overall pick of the 2015 OHL Priority Draft, and the Sudbury Wolves.
