Brampton Steelheads News Release

The Steelheads rounded out November with two wins at home, against two higher seeded teams. The Belleville Bulls came to the Hershey Centre on Friday, and opened the scoring in the first period. Mississauga responded with a pair of second period markers, giving them their first lead of the game. The Bulls got a quick one in the final frame, but just as they did in the second, the Steelheads had an answer as Josh Burnside tipped home the game winner just minutes later. The London Knights were in town on Sunday to conclude the 2014-15 season series. The matchup came just nine days after the first meeting between these clubs. The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first ten minutes of the game, but the Trout would not take that sitting down. Mississauga strung together six unanswered goals en route to their third straight home victory.

With the win on Sunday, the Steelheads improved to .500 (6-6) in the month of November. Their home record has been the focal point of the season, at .692 (9-4) they possess the best win percentage at home in the Central Division. Their recent success has reduced the point-gap between Mississauga and Barrie to just one.

The Steelheads head to Barrie on Thursday to kick off the season series with the Colts, the only Central Division team they have yet to face. This will be the first of three matchups at the Barrie Molson Centre this season. Last season, the Steelheads won two of three meetings in Barrie, and surely look to continue that success this Thursday. Barrie's Andrew Mangiapane was first discovered at the Steelheads' 'High School Hockey Shootout' during the 2012-13 season. Mangiapane signed as a free agent and is currently in his second season with the Colts. He scored in each of the three games in Barrie in the season series last year. With a win Thursday, the Steelheads would leapfrog the Barrie Colts for second place in the Central Division.

On Friday, the Plymouth Whalers will pay their only visit to Mississauga, concluding the season series between the two clubs. The first matchup marked Cameron Zanussi's first career OHL start as well as Sonny Milano's season debut following an injury. Zanussi made 30 saves in his first outing, but Plymouth took the game by a score of 5-0. The Whalers' Milano and goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic were both recently invited to participate in U.S.A's National Junior Team selection camp.

The Trout will make the trip up north to visit the Sudbury Wolves this Sunday. These divisional rivals have met once already this season, as the Wolves were in Mississauga for the Steelheads' Mayor McCallion Tribute Night where Mississauga put up five goals in the victory. The Wolves currently sit in fifth place in the Central Division, but are coming off a surprising victory over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Steelheads hope to bring another offensive outing to the Nickel City this weekend and take their second victory over the Wolves this season.
