OHL Announces Top Performers of the Month for November

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the Top OHL Performers of the Month for November, 2014, including Mitchell Marner of the London Knights, defenceman Darren Raddysh of the Erie Otters, rookie Alex DeBrincat of the Otters, and goaltender Brandon Hope of the Niagara IceDogs.

OHL Player of the Month - Mitchell Marner (London Knights):

Mitchell Marner of the London Knights is the OHL's Player of the Month for November, recording 32 points in 12 games including 18 goals and 14 assists along with a plus-minus rating of plus-12. Marner recorded points in all 12 of the November games he played, contributing to his current 16 game trend in which 12 of those contests have yielded multi-point outcomes. Marner helped the Knights play to a 7-3-0-2 mark in the month of November, being recognized as a star of the game in five different contests highlighted by first star honours in four of those games netting a hat-trick all four times. Those efforts helped Marner become a two-time OHL and CHL Player of the Week most recently with back-to-back five-point games November 21 with four goals and one assist in a 6-3 win over the Mississauga Steelheads, and November 22 with three goals and two assists in an 8-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires.

Marner, a 17 year-old from Thornhill, ON, is playing his second OHL season after finishing second in OHL rookie scoring last year with 59 points in 64 games. The former first round OHL Priority Selection pick is a top prospect eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft and performed for Team OHL in the 2014 SUBWAY Super Series. He is currently second in London Knights scoring behind teammate Max Domi and has posted 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points in 26 games this season.

OHL Defenceman of the Month - Darren Raddysh (Erie Otters):

Darren Raddysh of the Erie Otters is the OHL's Defenceman of the Month after leading all blueliners in scoring with 17 points in 13 games recording five goals and 12 assists along with a plus-minus rating of plus-4. He recorded points in 11 of his 13 games in the month of November and carried a 16 game point streak that stretched from September 24 to November 27. His contributions helped the Otters to a 9-4-0-0 record in November as they lead the Midwest Division.

Raddysh has been an integral part of Erie's success this season, leading the Otters in scoring from the blueline with 24 points in 18 games including eight goals and 16 assists to go with a plus-15 plus-minus rating. The 18-year-old Caledon native is in his third OHL season after being a fifth round pick out of the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget program in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.

OHL Rookie of the Month - Alex DeBrincat (Erie Otters):

After a great October, Erie Otters forward Alex DeBrincat followed up with another solid effort in November to be named the OHL's Top Rookie for a second straight month. The shifty winger recorded nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 13 games with a plus-9 rating in November, helping the Otters maintain their lead in the Midwest Division. DeBrincat had points in 10 of his 13 games, recording his first OHL hat-trick as first star in a 5-2 win over the Sarnia Sting on November 7.

The Detroit, Michigan, native leads the OHL rookie scoring race with 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points in 26 games with a plus-33 plus-minus rating. DeBrincat carried a 17-game point streak through the midway point of November, one that stretched from September 27 to November 14. The forward who doesn't turn 17 until later this month, played at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois last season, recording 54 goals and 111 points in 50 games before committing to the Otters in April. He is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.

Vaughn OHL Goaltender of the Month - Brandon Hope (Niagara IceDogs):

The Vaughn OHL Goaltender of the Month is Brandon Hope of the Niagara IceDogs who went 4-1-0-0 with a shutout victory posting a 1.20 goals-against-average and .968 save percentage in five starts with his new club. Acquired by the IceDogs from the Owen Sound Attack on November 5, Hope promptly posted a shutout in his IceDogs debut on November 7 making 34 saves as first star of a 3-0 road win over the Mississauga Steelheads. Hope earned first star honours in two more November wins against top OHL competition including a 45-save performance steering the IceDogs to a 2-1 win over the first place Erie Otters on November 14, then made 34 saves in a 4-1 victory over the top ranked Oshawa Generals on November 28.

A fifth-year OHL veteran, the native of Canton, Michigan is enjoying a strong start to the 2014-15 season. In 11 games, Hope is 6-1-1-1 with a 1.80 goals-against-average and a .949 save percentage. Hope has only faced less than 30 shots in one start this season.
