BOISE, Idaho - The West Coast Hockey League's Idaho Steelheads lost their first game at the Bank of America this season to the Bakersfield Condors before a crowd of 4,178; final score 4-2.

Although Idaho's goaltender Jason Cugnet made 27 saves, it was Bakersfield's Kevin St. Pierre who would come out the winner with his 27 stops.

Dan Shermerhorn scored the first goal of the game at 12:34 to give the Steelheads a 1-0 lead. The puck bounced off of Shermerhorn's stick to get past St. Pierre after Jonathan Shockey drilled it at the net. Marty Flichel also got an assist on the lone tally of the period

Bakersfield scored the only goals of the second period. Paul Willett knotted the game when he scored on the power play at 4:47, assisted by David Bell. Jason Jackman scored next at 17:16 to put them ahead by one, assisted by Jimmy Drolet and Peter McRae. Then, Shawn Byram gave the Condors a two-goal lead at 18:52, assisted by Jason Ralph and Paul Rosebush.

Steelheads Dan Shermerhorn scored his second of the night at 10:16 of the third period to close the gap to one. Derrick Atkinson and Flichel record the assists. However, Christian Skoryna dashed Idaho's hopes of tying it up when he put the final goal of the night past Cugnet at 13:27.
