TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The third of eight meetings and the second of four here. ‘Gades are 2-0 vs. the Generals with a pair of 3-2 overtime wins. Jamie Herrington and Jon Zion have three points vs. Greensboro. No General has more than two points. Richmond is 3-11 on the power play vs. the Generals. The ‘Gades are third in the Northeast Division with 34 points, four behind second place Greensboro and six back of division leader Atlantic City.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Gades lost 5-2 to Reading there last Saturday. Richmond out-shot Reading 39-21 but gave up four straight goals, three in the second period. Greensboro edged Columbia 4-3 at home Wednesday. The Generals allowed 43 shots but went 3-4 on the power play. Vlad Serov scored two goals and added an assist.

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond once again has three players on the Northern Conference All Star team: Jon Zion, Dan Lombard, and Jamie Herrington. This is the fifth straight year that the ‘Gades have had five players picked. No ECHL team has had more All Star selections over the past five years. The Renegades have won five straight and 11 of their last 12 games at home. The Renegades have lost three straight on the road and have been outscored 14-2 in those three games. The ‘Gades did snap a streak of over 137 minutes without a goal on the road and a streak of over 190 minutes without an even strength goal on the road in their loss to Reading Saturday. Richmond is 7-0 in ovetime/shootouts. Brad Church became the fourth ‘Gade to earn a call-up to the AHL. He is now with Cleveland. Jon Zion returned from Cincinnati of the AHL. He played in five games with the Mighty Ducks and had no points, eight PIM and was a +2.Nick Lent returned last Saturday from a three game call-up to Portland of the AHL. Jayme Filipowicz is on loan to St. John of the AHL. Daivd Brosseau and Jonathan St. Louis have missed five straight games with injuries. Brosseau is expected to play tonight. St. Louis is on 7-Day IR.

The ‘Gades have played the last five contests short-benched due to call-ups and injuries. Milt Mastad returned from IR Saturday but did not play. Marc Magliarditi now has 121 career wins. He is seventh in ECHL history, three behind Jeff Salajko. The ‘Gades are 17 for their last 19 on the penalty kill. The ‘Gades are 0 for their last 35 on the power play. Richmond has scored eight shorthanded goals. Richmond has had 30+ shots on goal in four straight games. The 39 shots fired by Richmond Saturday is the most in a loss since March 20 of last season when the ‘Gades had 40 in a 2-1 loss to Augusta. The ‘Gades loss at Reading was their only game in a stretch of 11 days. Richmond has not lost back to back games since 11/8. The ‘Gades signed rookie defenseman Don Seremak today (see player bios for more information).

GENERALS NOTES: Greensboro has won three straight and they are 9-1-1 in their last 11 games. The Generals set a club record with a five game winning streak (snapped by the Renegades) and seven game unbeaten streak earlier this season.
