
Ice Pilots Sign Martin Bartek

Pensacola, Fla. - Pensacola Ice Pilots Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Todd Gordon announced that right wing Martin Bartek has signed a contract with the Ice Pilots for the 2002-2003 season and has placed defenseman Rich Spiller on the seven day injured reserve list.
Bartek, who stands 61 and weighs 210 pounds, played in 6 games this season for Zlin in the Czech Republic scoring 2 goals, 2 assists for 4 points. He played in 62 games last year with Milwaukee of the AHL scoring 14 goals, 8 assists for 22 points and picked up 25 penalty minutes and played in 2 games with Cincinnati of the ECHL scoring 2 goals, 2 assists for 4 points.
Bartek played in 51 games for New Orleans in the ECHL during the 2000-2001 season scoring 30 goals, 33 assists for 63 points and picked up 16 penalty minutes and played in 14 games for Milwaukee of the IHL scoring one goal and picked up two penalty minutes. He played in the QMJHL from 1997-2000 for Rouyn-Noranda, Rimouski, Sherbrooke and Moncton scoring 55 goals, 79 assists for 134 points and picked up 92 minutes in 135 games played.
Bartek was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the 8th round and the 202nd overall player selected in the 1998 NHL Entry draft. He is 22 years old from Zvolen, Slovakia and shoots left.
Spiller has played in 19 games with the Ice Pilots this season scoring 1 goal, 1 assist for 2 points and has picked up 8 penalty minutes.
The Ice Pilots will play home tonight vs. Florida at 7:05 p.m. The Blue Angels will sign autographs before the game and the first 4,000 fans will receive stadium cups sponsored by SunTrust Bank.
