Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Steelheads visited the Guelph Storm Saturday afternoon for their third game in three days. Mississauga looked to bounce back after suffering a 6-1 loss to the Sarnia Sting Friday night, while the Storm looked to snap a 15-game losing streak. Unfortunately for the Steelheads, the Storm would be the ones to accomplish their goal, edging the Steelheads 4-3 in a shootout.

The newest member of the Steelheads, Josepeh Murdaca, made his first OHL start in goal for the Trout and Michael Giugovaz started between the pipes for the Storm. Josh Burnside opened the scoring to give the Steelheads an early 1-0 lead. After capitalizing on a turnover in the Guelph zone, Burnside wristed a shot under the blocker of Giugovaz for his seventh of the season. The Storm knotted the game with a goal from Brock Philips at 15:32. James McEwan drew the assist on Philips' second of the season. The game stayed locked at 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

Mississauga pulled ahead again early in the middle frame when Nicolas Hague one-timed a slap shot right as a Steelheads power play expired. Burnside drew the assist on Hague's first OHL goal. The Storm answered back, tying the game for the second time as Matthew Hotchkiss buried a rebound for his third of the season. Before the end of the period the Storm took their first lead of the game, as Hill redirected a shot from the point to make it 3-2.

Stefan LeBlanc would force a 3-on-3 overtime period after he evened the score in the final frame. Despite an exciting overtime period that saw chances at both ends, a shootout was necessary to determine a winner. Jacob Harris had the lone goal in the shootout as the Storm came out on top with a final score of 4-3.

The Steelheads will head home for the holidays before returning home to host the Peterborough Petes on Tuesday, December 29th.
