Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Saginaw, MI) - Brendan Lemieux scored three times and Aaron Luchuk had a pair of goals, as the Spitfires earned their 20th win of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Spirit at The Dow Event Center on Saturday night.
Goals by Cristiano DiGiacinto (13) and Lemieux (17) put the Spits up 2-1 after 20 minutes. Lemieux's marker extended his point streak to 13 games (18G, 11A).
Luchuk upped the lead to 3-1 at 6:07 of the second period, temporarily grabbing a share of the team lead in goals with Lemieux.
But the 19-year-old sharpshooter would score two more times, putting the Spitfires up for good at 5-3, seven minutes into the third period.
Luchuk's second of the game - a little more than two minutes later - iced the victory for a Windsor (20-9-5-0) club that has now taken four out of five games in the season series with Saginaw.
Logan Brown had three assists on the night and Mikhail Sergachev kicked in a pair.
Garret Hughson made 30 saves for the victory, while Evan Cormier took the loss, making 25 stops.
The Spitfires return to action Monday, December 28th at the WFCU Centre (7:05), as the Sarnia Sting visit to begin the second half of the regular season.
