
Wolves Shut-Out Highly Ranked Otters

The Sudbury Wolves paid their only visit of the season to the Erie Otters Friday night where they skated away with a 2-0 victory over the number one team in the Canadian Hockey League. For the second straight night, goaltender Troy Timpano was excellent in net to help the Wolves keep their winning streak alive at 3 games.
The Wolves got out to an early ledg in the first when overage import forward Mikkel Aagaard put one past the Otters' goaltender. Dmitry Sokolov and Alan Lyszczarczyk picked up the assists on Mikkel's 6th goal in 10 games with the Wolfpack.
No goals were scored during the second frame as both goaltenders stood tall in net. The Otter's outshot the Wolves in the second 15-6, but the Wolves were able to hold their lead.
In the third period, the Wolves' continued their solid play and Captain Danny Desrochers was able to solidify the Wolves' victory with an empty net goal. Aagaard and Chad Heffernan picked up the assist on the insurance goal. Final shots on goal were 30 to 22 in favour of the Otters. Goaltender Troy Timpano picked up first start honours in the shut-out, while Mikkel Aagaard picked up the second star of the game for his two point performance.
The Wolves will get a break Saturday night, before closing out the first half of the season Sunday night in Oshawa as they battle the Generals at 6:05pm. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into KFM 95.5 for the live play-by-play.
The Wolves return home after the Christmas Break on Tuesday December 29th when they host the Niagara IceDogs at 7pm.
