Brampton Steelheads News Release

An all-around dominating performance by the Steelheads as they won their 14th in 17 games by crushing the Niagara IceDogs 9-1.

First Period

The Steelheads looked to extend their unbeaten record in December as they faced off with the Niagara IceDogs. After a choppy first five minutes, the Steelheads put on a clinic in the opening frame.

The offensive barrage began on the powerplay at the 8:28 mark as Owen Beck sniped one top-corner past IceDogs' netminder Josh Rosenzweig for a 1-0 lead. Luca DelBelBelluz and Ethan Del Mastro received the assists. The Steelheads continued to capitalize on the IceDogs' miscues at the 11:55 mark as DelBelBelluz scored on a beautiful breakaway pass from James Hardie. Ty Collins was also credited an assist.

Then, at the 14:58 mark, another Niagara misfortune led the Steelheads to extend the lead to 3-0 after Hardie intercepted the IceDogs' pass deep in the attacking zone and passed to Ty Collins, who made no mistake, beating Rosenzweig for his fifth of the season. With the assist, Hardie passes Thomas Harley for eighth in the Steelheads all-time points list with 113 points. DelBelBelluz was also credited an assist.

The Steelheads' starting netminder, Joe Ranger, kept the IceDogs off the scoreboard, stopping all nine shots in the first twenty minutes.

After the goal, IceDogs' backup netminder Joseph Constanzo relieved Rosenzweig , but didn't fare much better as his miscue led to Beck's second of the night at the 6:08 mark, giving the Steelheads a 6-0 lead. The goal came just 9 seconds after Prueter's goal.

Niagara responded with a goal of their own on Aidan Castle's powerplay marker at the 11:03 mark, cutting the Steelheads' lead to 6-1. Ranger was busy in the middle frame, stopping 15 IceDogs shots.

The Steelheads got one back with 11.1 seconds remaining in the period on Prueter's second goal of the contest. Evan Brand and Max Dodig received the assists.
