Boise, ID. â With the best record in the league the Idaho Steelheads have placed several players on WCHL post-season award teams. Monday afternoon Bobby Stewart was selected to the All-WCHL team. Tuesday afternoon forward Wes Dorey and goaltender Jason Cugnet were selected to the WCHL All-Rookie team.
Stewart, a WCHL-MVP candidate as well, leads the Steelheads with 37 goals and 50 assists. His total of 87 points is currently fifth in the league. In his first year with Idaho he has scored numerous big goals, helping the Steelheads to a franchise record total of 99 points. "It's an honor," said Stewart. "I really consider it a team award. Guys have shared the puck and I have been fortunate to get a few to go in the net."
Cugnet has posted a 10-4-2 record with a .909 save percentage and a GAA of 2.47. He took three years off from hockey after playing at Colorado College and after a slow start has played exceedingly well and been a huge addition to the team. Dorey played four season of college hockey at the University of North Dakota; he helped the Fighting Sioux win the 2000 NCAA championship.
