STEEL BATTLE TO 3-2 WIN AT MUSKEGON Dugan scores game-winner on penalty shot; Autio stops 34 shots

MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN - Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jack Dugan scored a dazzling, penalty shot goal Friday as the Chicago Steel (2-1-0-0, 4 pts.) defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks (1-2-0-0, 2 pts.) by a 3-2 margin at L.C. Walker Arena. Steel goaltender Oskar Autio stopped 34 of 36 shots in the team's only game of the weekend.

Dugan and linemate Baker Shore each finished the game with one goal and one assist.

Returning forward Jordan Seyfert opened the scoring 8:31 into the first period. Seyfert received a pass in the left circle from Shore and one-timed a shot past the blocker side of Lumberjacks goaltender Adam Brizgala.

The Lumberjacks evened things up before the first intermission. Defenseman Blake Evennou's shot from the right point flew through traffic and beat Autio under the right arm at 17:27.

Chicago regained the lead in the second period thanks to a power play goal from Shore, who ripped a shot over Brizgala's blocker at 12:16. Dugan made a blind backhanded feed from the right of the net to the left faceoff dot where Shore delivered the go-ahead goal.

In the third period, Dugan was hauled down on a breakaway, drawing Chicago's first penalty shot opportunity of the season. Dugan slowly skated down the left wing, then sped up his stickhandling, deking twice in the low slot before burying the puck along the ice for a 3-1 lead and the eventual game-winning goal.

Muskegon pulled closer with under three minutes to play when Jachym Kondelik fired a rebound shot past Autio to pull the Lumberjacks within a goal. But the Steel defense was strong down the stretch, particularly in the last minute with Brizgala on the bench as Chicago skated to its second road win of the season in as many tries.

Dugan has now recorded a goal in each of his first three USHL games. Autio has won each of his first two USHL starts.

Chicago returns home next weekend for a pair of Eastern Conference games at Fox Valley Ice Arena. The Steel host the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday, Oct. 20, and the Madison Capitols on Saturday, Oct. 21. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. Fans can bring their dogs to the rink Friday for Pucks and Pups Night presented by WoofBeach. Fans can purchase a special Pucks and Pups ticket for $10 including admission to the game for the owner (and complimentary admission for the dog).
