2nd Period Breakout Powers Tri-City to 3-1 Win over Sioux City

Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm used a three goal 2nd period to record their second victory of the season, and their first at the Viaero Center. A 3-1 win for the Storm marked their 2nd victory of the season.

After a scoreless 1st period, the Storm blitzed the Musketeers with three consecutive goals in the 2nd period. Brian Hawkinson scored his 1st of the season at 8:09 of the 2nd period with the assists going to Tony Malinowski & Michael Maloney. Michael Maloney picked up his second point of the night with a goal of his own at 13:44, boosting the Storm lead to 2-0. Charlie Dovorany was credited with the primary assist, and the secondary assist went to Johnny McDermott on the Maloney tally. The final goal of the 2nd frame was netted by Adam Goodsir off of assists from Caleb Rule and Nate Clurman.

Sioux City scored midway through the 3rd period to put the pressure on the Storm. Sampo Ranta netted his 2nd of the season, with an individual effort coming from just inside the blue line.

Adam Goodsir provided an emotional spark for the Storm when he dropped the gloves with Hayden Rowan following the tally from Ranta. Both players were issued 5 minute fighting penalties along with 10 minute game misconducts.

Tri-City visits Ralston Arena on Sunday in a matchup against the Omaha Lancers at 5:05 PM CT
