The Spikes had a couple of big innings in the game, with David Rubinstein's bases-clearing double in the second inning giving the Spikes an early 3-0 lead, and four runs (three unearned) in the fifth staking them to a 7-3 lead. McPherson pitched four innings of relief the next night against the Jammers, yielding an unearned run in the ninth to tie the game. McPherson also struck out four over four innings in that appearance.
