Spikes drop game one

JAMESTOWN, NY--Jeremy Synan singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to carry the Jamestown Jammers past the State College Spikes, 7-6, in game one of a doubleheader at Diethrick Park Tuesday night.

Chase d'Arnaud and Quincy Latimore hit solo home runs for the Spikes.D'Arnaud's home run was his first as a professional, and his 15th extra-base hit of the year.

Mike Williams (1-2) took the loss for the Spikes, pitching the eighth and ninth innings. Ramon Aguero struck out seven in 4.2 innings in his start for State College (13-49), setting a season high in single-game strikeouts for any Spikes pitcher.

Jamestown (40-23) scored a pair of runs with two outs in the ninth to tie the game in the seventh inning. Miguel Fermin's triple brought in Paul Gran, and Ernie Banks then doubled in Fermin with the tying run.

Ciro Rosero also had a pair of hits for State College.

The Jammers have now taken all three games they have played against the Spikes at Diethrick Park,and seven of the eight total games between the two teams in 2008.
