-SPIKES FINISH UP 2011 SEASON TODAY: The State College Spikes complete the 2011 regular season today as they face the Williamsport Crosscutters at Historic Bowman Field. The Spikes have already clinched a series win to end the year, with victories in the first two games of the three-game set. Williamsport leads this year's edition of the SawBuck Series, 6-5, with State College looking to earn a split for the first time in two seasons.

-LAST GAME: Matt Benedict ended his 2011 season on a high note, delivering five strong innings on the mound, and Dan Gamache drove in three runs whileAlex Dickerson produced three hits to help the State College Spikes down the Williamsport Crosscutters, 7-2, on Saturday night at Historic Bowman Field. Benedict, making his league-leading 15th and final start of 2011, allowed two runs, but just one of them earned, on four hits and two walks over his five frames. The right-hander added three strikeouts in the effort.

-HAFNER GETS LAST START OF 2011: Right-hander Ryan Hafner gets the ball to start for State College this afternoon in the season finale. Hafner's 3.21 ERA ranks second among Spikes starters this season. The Pirates' 2010 17th-round draft choice is 0-1 with a 2.00 ERA vs. Williamsport this year, and his 61 2/3 total innings are third-most on the Spikes this year.

-MORGAN MAKES START FOR 'CUTTERS: Left-hander Adam Morgan is slated to start for the Crosscutters today. Morgan last faced the Spikes on July 18, going four innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out three. The Alabama product has gone five or more innings in each of his last five starts, going 2-1 over that span.

-NEW FACES JOIN SPIKES: Seven players from the Gulf Coast League Pirates have joined the Spikes over the last week. Pitcher Cesar Lopez, infielder Alen Hanson, and outfielders Willy Garcia, Gregory Polanco and Jose Osuna have each made their Spikes debut.
