Auburn Doubledays News Release

Batavia, NY - One night after clinching the New York-Penn League's Pinckney Division, the Auburn Doubledays traveled to Batavia for the final two games in the regular season. On Saturday night, Auburn won a 2-1 pitcher's duel in front of 853 fans at Dwyer Stadium.

Manny Rodriguez got the start for Auburn and pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up just four hits and one earned run, walking three and striking out three.

Auburn grabbed the early lead in the second off Muckdogs' starter Corey Baker, turning a leadoff double by Angelberth Montilla in the second to a run on a sacrifice fly by Mills Rogers.

In the fourth, the Doubledays used a leadoff double by Russell Moldenhauer, followed by a single by Montilla and fielding error by Muckdogs' leftfielder David Medina to score their second run of the game, making it 2-0 Auburn.

Batavia scored their only run of the night in the bottom of the fourth when Danny Stienstra singled to right-field with two outs, plating Garret Wittels. That was all Batavia could manage against the Auburn pitching staff.

Kelvin Lopez got the win in relief, tossing one and one-third innings of hitless and scoreless baseball. Chad Jenkins worked the final three innings, facing just one over the minimum in his first save of the season.

Auburn plays their last regular-season game on Sunday afternoon, when they meet the Muckdogs in a 1:05pm first pitch from Dwyer Stadium. Fans are invited to listen to the live play-by-play at 89.1 FM in Auburn or at www.auburndoubledays.com.
