Wappingers Falls, NY - The Aberdeen IronBirds couldn't hold onto an early lead Sunday evening, as they fell in the season finale at the Hudson Valley Renegades 3-2.

The IronBirds took a two-run lead in the second inning. Joe Velleggia and Wynston Sawyer reached on back-to-back walks to lead-off the inning. Connor Narron then hit a ground-ball to the right-side of the infield. First baseman Jeff Malm made a diving stop and threw the ball to second base. The ball tipped off of shortstop Juniel Querecuto's glove and went into left field. Velleggia scored on the error. Back-to-back fielder's choices scored Sawyer from second and made it 2-0.

Hudson Valley made it a one-run game in the bottom of the second. Three singles loaded the bases for Cesar Guillen. He lifted a sacrifice fly to left-field, making it 2-1.

The Renegades tied the game in the seventh inning. Reliever Devin Jones surrendered a leadoff walk to Brian Bryles. He stole second base and advanced to third on a ground-out. Querecuto knocked in Bryles with a single to left, knotting the game at two.

In the eighth, the Renegades took their first lead of the ball game. Matt Taylor walked the first two batters of the inning. With one out, Travis Strong entered the game and surrendered an RBI-single to Leonardo Reginatto, making it 3-2.

Roberto Gomez (1-0) got the win after pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Taylor (2-1) took the loss. Mickey Jannis (2) pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.

The IronBirds would like to thank the fans for another sell-out season at Ripken Stadium. We'll see you in 2012!
