-SPIKES SEEK RUBBER MATCH WIN AT TRI-CITY: The State College Spikes look for their first series victory on the road tonight as they finish a three-game series against the Tri-City ValleyCats at Joseph Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY. The two teams have split the first two in the series. State College is 6-11 against Tri-City all-time, with a 3-5 record against the ValleyCats in Troy.

-LAST GAME: Spikes pitching was touched for eight runs in the first inning, the highest total allowed by the Spikes in one inning this year, which proved to be the difference as they fell to the ValleyCats, 9-5, on Thursday night at Joseph Bruno Stadium. State College scored the first run of the game in the top of the first. However, the ValleyCats quickly recouped that run and more, chasing Spikes starter Stetson Allie from the game after five batters. State College scored three runs in the second and another in the sixth, but could not overcome Tri-City's lead. Alex Dickerson had two runs batted in for the Spikes.

-HAFNER HEADS TO THE MOUND FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Ryan Hafner looks for his first professional victory tonight as he gets the start for State College. Hafner, the PIrates' 17th-round draft choice of the Pirates in 2010, went four innings against Brooklyn last time out. The Lee's Summit, MO native allowed two unearned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out three. Hafner has allowed righties just a .186 average this year.

-TRI-CITY GOES WITH HALLOCK: Left-hander Kyle Hallock gets the ball for the ValleyCats this evening. Hallock's 2.12 ERA is currently fourth in the New York-Penn League, and his 0.88 WHIP is second behind only Parker Markel of Hudson Valley. Hallock, the 2011 Pitcher of the Year in the Mid-American Conference for Kent State, was chosen in the tenth round of this year's draft by the Astros. The southpaw has gone at least five innings in every start.
