
Big Innings, Strong Start Lift Scrappers Over Spinners

Niles, Ohio - The Scrappers had two four-run innings and Joseph Colon went six strong to start the game in a 8-4 win over the Lowell Spinners.
Mahoning Valley scored four in the fifth and four in the eighth to support Colon, who allowed just two runs over six innings of work. He shut the Spinners out over the first five before Lowell scored two in the sixth.
Colon and Spinners starter Luis Diaz matched zeroes over the first four innings until the Scrappers got four two-out runs in the fifth. Jerrud Sabourin doubled in two runs and Aaron Siliga tripled in one as part of the inning.
Lowell cut the lead to 4-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, when the Scrappers scored four more. The Spinners got a run in the top of the ninth and loaded the bases with two outs before Enosil Tejeda retired the last batter and preserved the win. Colon picked up the win to improve to 4-2. Diaz picked up the loss to fall to 3-2.
The Scrappers will open up a three-game series on the road against the Aberdeen IronBirds on Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
