
BuccoMania, Fireworks Highlight Spikes' Weekend Slate

State College Spikes News Release
(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for a three-game homestand against the Lowell Spinners, affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, which begins on Saturday, July 30. The homestand features an array of fun, family entertainment, including BuccoMania/Mascot Mania on Saturday, FIREWORKS presented by T&B Medical on Sunday, and the return of Super Splash Day on Monday.
With the Pittsburgh Pirates enjoying great success in 2011, the Spikes encourage fans to catch BuccoMania on Saturday as Pirates legends Kent Tekulve and Grant Jackson appear at the ballpark, and the Pirate Parrotjoins Ike the Spike and friends for Mascot Mania. Plus, the first 1,000 fans of all ages through the gates receive a Spikes Golf Towel from Boyles Insurance. In addition, lucky fans will be chosen throughout the game and be given the chance to be one of three finalists taking aim at $10,000 in a post-game Hole-in-One Contest.
Sunday, a spectacular post-game FIREWORKS show, presented by T&B Medical will light up the night skies on Mifflin & Juniata County Night presented by The Sentinel as the Spikes take on the Spinners at 6:05 p.m.
Monday, fans can enjoy the only scheduled day game of the year for the Spikes as they face the Spinners on Super Splash Day with a noon start. Ike's Kids Zone will turn into the Splash Zone, with an Alpha Fire Company fire truck, dunk tank, kiddie pools and sprinklers helping kids to enjoy an afternoon filled with watery fun. In addition, fans of all ages can take the day off and experience the fun of a Spikes game, with free coffee available to all fans from 11 a.m. to noon.
