
Jammers Shut out IronBirds, Win Rubber Game

Jamestown, NY - The Aberdeen IronBirds' bats went cold Friday night in Jamestown, as they fell to the Jammers 5-0.
Jamestown took a three-run lead in the second off of IronBirds' starting pitcher Parker Bridwell. With two men down, Nestor Castillo reached on an infield hit. Marquise Cooper walked, putting two on base. Ryan Goetz smacked an RBI-single. With runners on the corners, a pitch got by catcher Austin Goolsby. The passed ball allowed Cooper to score from third and Goetz to move up to second. Austin Barnes knocked in Goetz with a single, making it 3-0.
The Jammers made it a four-run game in the third inning. With one out, Brian McConkey reached on a walk. He took second on a delayed steal. Rony Peralta knocked him in with an RBI-single.
Terrence Dayleg (4) made it a five-run game with one swing of the bat. He led off the fifth with a solo home run off of reliever Ryan Berry.
Josh Hodges (4-0) was credited with the win. He scattered six hits over six shutout innings of work. Bridwell (2-4) took the loss. He allowed four runs (three earned) in four innings.
The IronBirds return to Ripken Stadium Saturday evening for Hollywood Night and to open up a three-game series with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). Aberdeen will have right-hander Jake Cowan (0-4, 4.04) on the hill. Right-hander Will Roberts (0-1, 4.66) will get the start for Mahoning Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
