-SPIKES LOOK FOR SECOND STRAIGHT ROAD WIN: The State College Spikes continue the second half of the 2011 season tonight with the second game of a three-game series against the Tri-City ValleyCats at Joseph Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY. This is the first series that the Spikes have played against a Stedler Division opponent this year. State College is 6-10 against Tri-City all-time, with a 3-4 record against the ValleyCats in Troy.

-LAST GAME: Matt Benedict went a season-high six innings on the mound, and the Spikes made an early lead stand up to start the second half of the 2011 season with a 2-1 win over the ValleyCats on Wednesday night at Joseph Bruno Stadium. Benedict, who came into the game as the only Spikes starter to pitch into the sixth inning on year, successfully finished the sixth for the first time. The right-hander allowed just one run on four hits, a walk and two hit batsmen during his stay on the hill, and struck out four ValleyCats. Benedict also stranded seven runners in his six frames, including three on third base, to earn the win.

-ALLIE MAKES SEVENTH PRO START: Right-hander Stetson Allie makes his seventh start as a professional and his eight appearance this season for the Spikes tonight. Allie took his first pro loss last time out, going 1 2/3 innings and allowing four runs on three hits, two walks and three hit batsmen. The Olmsted Falls, OH native has twice struck out five batters in a game this year, and makes his first outing against a non-Pinckney Division opponent tonight.

-QUEZADA GETS BALL FOR 'CATS: In a change, right-hander Euris Quezada gets the ball for Tri-City this evening. Quezada, a native of the Dominican Republic, switches places with lefty Kyle Hallock, who is among the New York-Penn League leaders in ERA and WHIP. Quezada did not receive a decision in his last outing, a start of 4 2/3 innings against Connecticut. The righty allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and five walks.
