July 28, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters edged the Vermont Lake Monsters 2-1 on Wednesday night in a rain-shortened game at Historic Bowman Field.
The Lake Monsters opened the scoring in the top of the fourth, using a sac fly to left by Nick Rickles to take a 1-0 lead off Cutters starter Austin Wright.
The Cutters quickly answered in the bottom of the inning, as Maikel Franco's RBI single and Brock Stassi's RBI groundout gave the home team a 2-1 advantage.
Heavy rain suspended play in the middle of the fifth inning, and after conditions failed to improve, the game was made official following a seventy-one minute delay.
Cutters starter Austin Wright picked up the complete-game win, allowing one run over five innings while striking out eight.
Williamsport continues its home stand Friday night with another 7:05pm start time versus Vermont. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
