Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release

BROOKLYN, NY - The Brooklyn Cyclones used a walk-off homer from Travis Taijeron to take down the Connecticut Tigers 2-1 on Thursday night at MCU Park.

With the game tied at one going into the bottom of the ninth, Fernando Celis came out of the bullpen for the Tigers. After inducing a fly ball out from Brian Harrison, Taijeron smashed a big fly to left field that sent the crowd in a frenzy as the Cyclones walked of with the victory.

The Tigers struck first in the game with a solo home run from Eugenio Suarez in the third inning, his first long ball of the year.

Brooklyn came back with a solo shot by Richard Lucas in the fourth, his fourth home run of the season, to tie the game at one.

The Cyclones had the bases loaded with two outs in the sixth, but Ryan Woolley came out of the bullpen and struck out Travis Taijeron to keep the game even. Connecticut then threatened as they had runners on first and third with one out in the seventh and men on first and second with none out in the eighth, but could not push any runs across.

Tigers starter Wilsen Palacios put in another great outing, surrendering just one run on three hits through 5.2 innings of work.

Randy Fontanez, making just his third start of the year for Brooklyn, gave up a run on only two hits in 4.2 innings.

Celis fell to 0-3 with the loss, while TJ Chism who pitched a perfect ninth inning earned the win for Brooklyn and improved to 3-0.

The Tigers will play the rubber game of the three-game series against the Brooklyn Cyclones with game three tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM.
