Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Niles, Ohio - The Scrappers erased an early 4-0 deficit but allowed a late Spinners rally in a 10-7 loss to Lowell.
The Spinners scored four runs in the first off starter Mason Radeke, who hadn't allowed a first-inning run in six previous starts. The Scrappers got a run in the first, two in the third and two in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.
Jake Lowery and Jordan Smith had run-scoring hits to cut into the deficit, and John Barr gave the Scrappers the lead with his fifth-inning single.
The score remained 5-4 until the eighth inning, when Lowell broke through for three runs. Keury De La Cruz hit a two-run single to put the Spinners up 7-5. Lowell added three more in the ninth inning.
The Scrappers scored twice in the ninth on a two-run double by Smith, but the Spinners preserved the win.
The Scrappers and Spinners will conclude their three-game series on Friday night at 7:05 pm.
