-SPIKES CONTINUE ROAD TRIP AGAINST RENEGADES: Tonight, the State College Spikes continue their 10th Season as they take on the Hudson Valley Renegades in the middle game of a three-game series at Dutches Stadium. The Spikes come off a shutout win in last night's series opener that helped erase a trio of one-run losses, the last in 14 innings, to Aberdeen in the first half of the six-game road swing. The series against the Renegades is a rematch of last year's NYPL Semifinal Series, which the Spikes won in three games on their way to the league championship. State College is 12-18 all-time against Hudson Valley, with a 6-8 record at Dutchess Stadium that includes a loss in Game 1 of the 2014 Semifinal Series.

-LAST GAME: Juan Perez and Landon Beck teamed up to strike out 13 batters and shut out the Hudson Valley Renegades on seven hits, giving the Spikes a 2-0 victory on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium. Perez, the reigning New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week, started and gave up three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings for the win. Beck then took over in a makeshift "piggyback" setup on the mound and went the rest of the way. The righty, who was originally set to start Saturday's game against Hudson Valley (18-15), yielded four hits and struck out six over four innings of work for the save. The Spikes (16-17) plated both of their runs in the opening frame. Mike Pritchard and Thomas Spitz rapped back-to-back one-out singles to set the table, and both scored on an error to give State College the lead that Perez and Beck would make sure stood up.

-CROSS GETS BALL FOR SPIKES: After a shuffle in the rotiation, right-hander Carson Cross gets the start tonight for State College. The UConn product was the Cardinals' 14th-round draft choice this year, and makes his four start and fifth overall appearance in the pros this evening. Cross allowed two runs on three hits, two walks and a hit batsman in his last start on Monday against Batavia, stopping a string of eight straight innings without allowing an earned run. The Brentwood, NH native was a Louisville Slugger Third-Team All-American for the Huskies this past spring.

-RENEGADES' MOSS TO START TONIGHT: Right-hander Benton Moss makes his seventh appearance and third start of the year for Hudson Valley this evening. Moss, the Rays' sixth-round draft choice in 2015 out of North Carolina, had been part of tandems in the rotation until his last start on Sunday at Connecticut, when he earned the win after tossing five shutout innings in which he gave up four hits and a hit batsman. The righty made his first five professional appearances at home after earning Third-Team All-ACC honors for the Tar Heels this past spring.

-SPIKES WELCOME BACK TWO FAMILIAR FACES: In the wake of Thursday's 14-inning marathon, the Spikes added two players from Single-A Peoria with previous State College experience yesterday in right-handed pitcher Kevin Alexander and outfielder Jhohan Acevedo. Alexander made a single appearance for the Spikes in the last week of the 2014 regular season. Acevedo returns to the Spikes after beginning the 2015 season with State College. Both players were part of last year's NYPL champs, and Acevedo made a late-inning appearance as a defensive sub last night.

-GRAYSON DELIVERING BIG NUMBERS: Casey Grayson is still at or near the top of several leaderboards in the New York-Penn League. The University of Houston product is second in the NYPL in batting average with a .343 mark, and his .433 on-base percentage is second in the league. Grayson also occupies spots in the NYPL's top five in hits (T-4th, 37) and runs batted in (5th, 21).

-SPIKE MARKS: Mike Pritchard is tied for second in the NYPL in runs scored with 22...Jorge Rodriguez has held batters to a .188 average, third-best among NYPL starters, and his 2.43 ERA is ninth-best in the league...Juan Perez has now thrown 12 straight scoreless innings while striking out 17 batters over that time
