
Renegades Fall to the Spikes

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the State College Spikes by a score of 6-2 on Saturday evening at Dutchess Stadium.
State College took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning as with two outs, third baseman Cole Lankford singled and scored on a two-run home run from catcher Jesse Jenner.
The Spikes extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the third inning on RBI singles from first baseman Casey Grayson and Lankford. Designated hitter Leobaldo Pina drove in a run in the top of the fifth inning to give State College a 5-0 lead.
The Renegades cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning as designated hitter Cade Gotta and right fielder Jose Paez drove in runs on RBI singles, scoring left fielder Joe McCarthy and third baseman Matt Dacey respectively. State College added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning on a RBI single from left fielder Mike Pritchard.
Brennan Leitao (1-0) picked up the win in relief for State College, scattering two hits in an inning and a third. Carson Cross started the game for the Spikes and allowed no runs in four innings of work. Hudson Valley's starting pitcher Benton Moss (1-1) took the loss, giving up four runs off nine hits in four innings pitched.
With the result, Hudson Valley falls to 18-16 and State College improves their record to 17-17.
Notes: Renegades outfielder Jose Paez has enjoyed hitting at home throughout the 2015 season. Paez went 1-3 with a RBI in Saturday evening's game and in 12 games played inside the friendly confines of Dutchess Stadium, Paez is hitting .333 (14-42). He has driven in seven runs during those seven games and has a .429 slugging percentage.
The Renegades conclude their three-game series against the State College Spikes on Sunday, July 26th with first pitch scheduled for 5:05pm.
