Rodriguez, who had won his last two road outings, gave up just one hit and two walks during his tenure on the mound while striking out three batters. However, the 79 pitches he threw over his five innings hastened the end of his start. The Spikes (15-16) moved ahead in the second inning when Josh Swirchak singled and came in to score on R.J. Dennard's double down the right-field line. However, despite threatening on several other occasions, State College could not extend its lead. Aberdeen was held hitless until Mike Odenwaelder's leadoff single in the fifth, but came alive in the seventh with three straight singles off State College reliever Jacob Evans, the last by Steve Laurino, to tie the game. Two batters later, Drew Turbin's groundout plated the eventual game-winning run.

Martinez put together a string of 16 1/3 straight innings without allowing an earned run from June 26 to July 10.
-COSME HEADS TO MOUND FOR IRONBIRDS: Right-hander Jean Cosme makes his seventh start of the year for Aberdeen this evening. Cosme has taken the loss in each of his last two outings despite not allowing more that three runs in either. Cosme is holding right-handed hitters to a .178 batting average this season, with lefties hitting .281 off him.
