Auburn Doubledays News Release

BURLINGTON, VT - The Doubledays took the lead with the first hitter of the day and never looked back the rest of the night en route to a 6-2 victory.

Victor Robles dug in to lead off the game and launched a home run over the wall in left center to give the Doubledays an early 1-0 lead. It was the first homer for Robles with Auburn this season and the start of a great night for the outfielder.

In the bottom of the second, the Lake Monsters tied the game up at one. With one out, Seth Brown knocked a double into right and moved to third when Nick Collins singled into right. Brown then came around to score when Skye Bolt lined a double into left that also moved Collins to third. But, Bolt and Collins were both stranded in scoring position at the end of the inning.

The Doubledays took the lead back in the top of the 3rd. Dalton Dulin walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Vermont's starter Jonathan Massad. Robles dug in next and knocked in Dulin with a triple into center, but the Lake Monsters tied it up at two a couple minutes later. In the bottom of the third with two outs, Brett Siddall hit his first homer of the season with Vermont in just his second at bat as a Lake Monster.

After a scoreless fourth, the Doubledays got back on the board in the fifth. Melvin Rodriguez led off with a single into center, but didn't advance when Dulin popped out and Jorge Tillero flew out. Robles stepped up next and moved Rodriguez to second with a bunt single down the third base line. Edwin Lora then drove Rodriguez in with a single into right and the Doubledays took a 3-2 lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Doubledays added insurance runs. David Kerian walked and Max Schrock singled to lead off the inning. Randy Encarnacion and struck out and Rodriguez popped out before Dulin singled them both Kerian and Schrock in to give Auburn a 5-2 lead.

An inning later in the seventh, Lora hit an infield single to short and stole second. Rhett Wiseman stepped up next and drove Lora in with a single to right to put the Doubledays 6-2.

The RBI single from Lora in the seventh was the final run of the day. The only other play of note was in the ninth. Victor Robles lined a long single into left and took a big turn of first before he went back to first. The outfielder finished a double shy of the cycle in his fifth game with the Doubledays.

Erick Fedde started for Auburn, but didn't earn a decision with the following line: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, and 3 K's. Adam Boghosian earned his second victory with the following line: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, and 1 K. Jonathan Massad took the loss after the following line: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, and 5 K's.
