
Renegades Fall in Series Finale to Williamsport

Wappingers Falls, NY (7/23/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Williamsport Crosscutters by a score of 8-3 on Thursday evening at Dutchess Stadium.
Williamsport scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run by second baseman Josh Tobias. The Crosscutters added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning on as center fielder Mark Laird scored on a wild pitch, giving Williamsport a 3-0 lead.
Hudson Valley cut the Williamsport lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a RBI sacrifice fly by third baseman Hector Montes and a RBI triple by center fielder Jose Paez.
After the fifth and sixth innings went scoreless, Williamsport scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 8-2 lead. The Crosscutters picked up their first run of the inning on a RBI single by right fielder Jose Pujols and a grand-slam from catcher Gregori Rivero. Hudson Valley picked up a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a RBI single by Paez, his second RBI of the night, bringing the score to 8-3 in favor of Williamsport.
The Crosscutters starting pitcher Jose Taveras (4-1) picked up the win, as he gave up two runs off six hits in five innings. Travis Ott (3-2) took the loss for the Renegades, allowing three runs and two earned runs in four innings of work
With the result, Hudson Valley falls to 18-14 and Williamsport improves their record to 22-11.
Notes: While the Renegades fell in tonight's contest, it has been a strong past few weeks for Hudson Valley. Dating back to the start of their three-game series against Staten Island on July 4th, the Renegades have won four straight series and five out of the last six. Hudson Valley's overall record in the month of July is 12-9.
The Renegades begin a three-game series against the State College Spikes on Friday, July 24th with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. Friday night is "Air Guitar Giveaway Night" at Dutchess Stadium, followed by a postgame fireworks show presented by First Niagara.
