-SPIKES FACE BLACK BEARS IN TRIP TO WEST VIRGINIA: Tonight, the State College Spikes continue their 10th Season as they continue a three-game series at Monongalia County Ballpark against their Pinckney Division foes, the West Virginia Black Bears. The Spikes took two out of three games from the Black Bears at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park July 1-3, and are coming off a 3-3 homestand against a pair of Stedler Division opponents, Connecticut and Tri-City. All-time, State College holds a 49-45 record against the West Virginia franchise, including games played against Jamestown from 2006 to 2014. The Spikes are now 1-0 at Monongalia County Ballpark, and went 25-22 in games played in Jamestown over the club's first nine seasons in Central PA.

-LAST GAME: Orlando Olivera produced his three-hit game in the New York-Penn League as the State College Spikes used a trio of big innings to pace a 10-7 victory over the West Virginia Black Bears on Wednesday night at Monongalia County Ballpark. Trailing 4-0 going into the fourth inning, State College put up its biggest frame of the season with five runs to take the lead. All of the runs scored with two outs, starting with Cole Lankford's RBI single. R.J. Dennard then knocked in another run with a single to right, and after Olivera's second hit of the evening loaded the bases, Thomas Spitz cleared the bases with a triple to center to put the Spikes ahead. In the sixth, Mike Pritchard's RBI double combined with Danny Martin's two-run triple to put the Spikes up, 8-5. The Spikes then salted away the win with a pair of insurance runs in the ninth thanks to Casey Grayson's RBI double and Lankford's sacrifice fly. Ian McKinney picked up the win and Kender Villegas earned the save for State College.

-RODRIGUEZ HEADS TO MOUND FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Jorge Rodriguez gets the ball for State College tonight in his fifth start of the 2015 NYPL season. Rodriguez battled through five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk in a loss, in his last outing against Connecticut last Thursday. The San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native led the GCL with two complete games in 2014 and was one of only two pitchers to post a shutout (tossing 5 2/3 innings in a rain-shortened game) in that season. Rodriguez did not allow a run over his first 15 innings with the GCL Cards after pitching the 2012 and 2013 seasons for the Dominican Summer League Cardinals.

-BLACK BEARS SEND HELTON TO HILL: Right-hander Bret Helton gets the start for West Virginia in his fifth appearance of the year. Helton makes his third start at home, where he holds a 12.46 ERA as opposed to a 2.25 mark on the road this season. Last time out, the Colorado Springs, CO native threw five shutout innings at Lowell for his first professional win, striking out five while yielding one hit and three walks. Helton was the ninth-round draft choice of the Pirates out of Utah in 2015.

-GRAYSON DELIVERING BIG NUMBERS: Casey Grayson has reached base in all 23 games he has played so far to post the longest active streak in the New York-Penn League, and put himself just three games shy of the franchise record for most consecutive games reaching base, set by Rowan Wick last year. Grayson and has also put together a 14-game hitting streak, which is the longest such active string in the league. The University of Houston product still leads the NYPL in batting average with a .398 mark, and his .479 on-base percentage is tops in the league.

-SPIKE MARKS: Pedro Echemendia is tied for second in the NYPL in appearances with nine...Landon Beck is second in the league with a 0.76 WHIP...Mike Pritchard leads the NYPL with 18 runs scored...Grayson has scored 17 runs to tie for second in the league, and his 18 RBI are fourth in the NYPL...Grayson also leads the NYPL in hits with 33...The Spikes two points above Auburn for the best team batting average at .263, and their 215 hits as a team are third-best in the NYPL...State College has won three straight road games...Ian McKinney has logged 28.2 innings, the fourth-most in the league this season
