July 16, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
TROY, NY - Kolbey Carpenter went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in, and Dexture McCall drove in a pair of runs in a 2-for-5 performance, but the Tri-City ValleyCats fell to the visiting Vermont Lake Monsters 10-7 in front of 4,131 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, on Thursday night.
The Lake Monsters jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. However, the 'Cats took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the thanks to a two-RBI single by Bryan Muñiz that put them on the scoreboard, an RBI single by McCall that tied the game, and a two-run single with two outs and the bases loaded, that made the score 5-3.
Each team then scored one run each in the fifth and sixth innings, before Vermont pushed two across the plate to tie the game in the top of the eighth. One inning later, the Lake Monsters took the lead for good, scoring three times in the top of the ninth.
The ValleyCats will now look to defeat the Lake Monsters on Friday, in hopes of securing the series victory in the rubber match of this three-game set. On the mound for the ValleyCats will be RHP Trent Thornton (1-0, 4.02), with RHP Kyle Friedrichs (0-0, 2.00) getting the start for Vermont. The game, which will have a 7:00 p.m. first pitch, will be "Down on the Farm Night" with a "Joe to The Show" poster giveaway for the first 2,000 fans.
