-SPIKES LOOK TO END ROAD SLIDE TONIGHT: The State College Spikes finish off a six-game road trip tonight as they face the Auburn Doubledays tonight to end a three-game series between the two teams at Falcon Park. State College has dropped its last four games on the road during the trip. Auburn leads the all-time series, 32-27.

-LAST GAME: Mike Jefferson rebounded from allowing a first-inning home run to strike out a career-high six batters over five innings, but the State College Spikes ended up on the short end of a 5-0 score against the Auburn Doubledays on Sunday night at Falcon Park. Jefferson yielded a two-run homer to Auburn first baseman Justin Miller to open the scoring, but allowed only one hit after that. The left-hander notched 11 consecutive outs to end his evening on the mound, allowing a total of two hits and a walk on the night. Sunday also marked Jefferson's second straight five-inning outing, matching the longest of his career. State College was shut out for the first time since July 16, despite out-hitting Auburn, 6-5.

-KINGHAM TO THE HILL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Nick Kingham gets the ball for State College tonight. Kingham was the last pitcher to earn a victory for the Spikes, going five innings and allowing one run for the win over Hudson Valley on Wednesday. The start was the first in which the Pirates' 2010 fourth-round pick did not have a strikeout, but it was also the seventh straight start in which he went five or more innings with one or no runs allowed.

-RODRIGUEZ THE DOUBLEDAYS' MAN ON THE MOUND: Auburn right-hander Manny Rodriguez gets the ball for the Doubledays tonight in his 12h appearance and ninth start for the club in 2011. Rodriguez, the Nationals' 10th-round draft pick in 2011 out of Barry University, is 1-0 with a 2.30 ERA in five home appearances and has faced the Spikes twice already this year. The West Palm Beach, FL native has allowed two runs to State College in six innings.
