Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters, in association with the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, have announced that Baseball Hall-of-Famer Rod Carew will be signing free autographs at Historic Bowman Field on Friday, August 26 from 3-4pm in the team's Sawmill Team Store.
Carew played in the major leagues from 1967 to 1985 playing for the Minnesota Twins and the California Angels. He was elected to the All-Star game every season except his last. In 1991, Carew was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, the 22nd player so elected.
In 1999, he ranked #61 on The Sporting News'' list of 100 Greatest Baseball Players, and was nominated as a finalist for Major League Baseball's All-Century Team. He finished his playing career with a .328 average and over 3,000 hits.
