-SPIKES START STRETCH RUN AGAINST AUBURN: The State College Spikes come back home to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park as they seek to make tracks towards a second straight New York-Penn League Pinckney Division title. The Spikes welcome the Auburn Doubledays to town for a two-game mini-series that concludes on Thursday. State College swept a three-game series at Falcon Park this past weekend. Coming out of the NYPL All-Star break, the Spikes hold an eight-game lead in the division with 13 to play, putting their magic number for a division title at five. The Spikes have won seven out of eight games against the Doubledays so far this year, including all five at Falcon Park. All-time, State College is 45-43 against Auburn with a 22-21 mark at home.

-LAST GAMES: The State College Spikes used a homer from Robleys Reyes and a three-run surge in the seventh to come back and defeat the Auburn Doubledays, 7-4, to earn a doubleheader sweep after homers from Danny Diekroeger and Luis Cruz led a 4-1 win in the first game on Sunday afternoon at Falcon Park.

Reyes's two-run homer, his second at Falcon Park this season and third of the year overall, tied the second game at 4-4 in the fifth inning of the seven-inning contest. In the seventh, Diekroeger stretched his hitting streak to 13 games with a two-out RBI single to put the Spikes up, 5-4. Nick Thompson and Jake Stone then followed with back-to-back singles to cap off the scoring.

Brett Wiley had four hits over the doubleheader, including three in the day's first game. Wiley also collected two doubles in the twin bill and knocked in a run.

Kenny Peoples-Walls had two hits in Game Two, and scored a pair of runs as well.

In the first game, Diekroeger delivered a solo shot to right field in the first inning and Cruz belted a two-run blast to left, his first homer of the year, to stake the Spikes to a lead they would not relinquish.

-SPIKES GO WITH PEREZ TONIGHT: Left-hander Dewin Perez makes his team-leading 12th start for the Spikes this evening.. Last time out, Perez allowed three runs on eight hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out one over 5 1/3 innings for the win at home against Mahoning Valley. The Cartagena, Colombia native has faced the Doubledays twice already this season, going 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA and making his longest outing of the season each time. Perez lasted seven innings at home against Auburn on July 25. The southpaw has faced 525 straight batters without allowing a home run, a streak that goes back to June 5, 2012.

-DOUBLEDAYS GO WITH BOURQUE TONIGHT: Right-hander James Bourque makes his eight start and ninth overall appearance for Auburn in tonight's game. Bourque, a product of the University of Michigan, was the Nationals' 14th-round draft choice this year. The Ann Arbor, MI native last faced the Spikes on July 24 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, drawing ths loss despite allowing four unearned runs over 4 2/3 innings. Bourque has lost his last five outings, including a relief appearance this past Thursday at Jamestown.

-SPIKES MAKE GOOD SHOWING AT NYPL ALL-STAR GAME: State College Spikes pitchers Will Anderson and Kyle Grana each tossed a scoreless inning on the mound for the South squad, and Spikes infielders Robelys Reyes and Darren Seferina each made contributions, but the New York-Penn League All-Star Game finished in a 1-1 tie on Tuesday night at MCU Park. Anderson recorded three straight groundouts in the second, while Grana allowed a hit and a walk, but no runs, in the eighth. Reyes went 0-for-2 after finishing the game at shortstop, while Seferina came on as a pinch-runner in the ninth and stole a base, but was stranded at third to end the exhibition contest.

-SPIKES, CARDINALS EXTEND PDC THROUGH 2016: The State College Spikes have announced a two-year extension of their Player Development Contract (PDC) with the defending National League champion St. Louis Cardinals. The extension maintains the affiliation between the Spikes and Cardinals through the 2016 New York-Penn League season.

-SPIKE MARKS: Kyle Grana's 13.90 strikeouts per nine innings are second-most among NYPL relievers, and his 52 total whiffs are sixth-most in the league...Will Anderson is fourth in the league with a 2.31 ERA...Darren Seferina is now sixth in the NYPL in batting average at .308...Danny Diekroeger's 13-game hit streak is the second-longest for a Spikes player this year behind Jake Stone's 14-game string in July...Nick Thompson has 34 RBI, and is on the verge of passing Rowan Wick's 38 RBI for the most on the team
