
Game Notes: Renegades at IronBirds

Goodbye Connecticut!
The IronBirds fell by a score of 11-1 in the final game of a three game set with the Connecticut Tigers. It was a night to forget for the IronBirds as they collected just four hits and a run. IronBirds' DH Jay Gonzalez led the game off with a single before being retired on an fielder's choice. Tad Gold collected a triple off of Tigers' RHP Josh Heddinger in the third and shortly after came around to score off of a Randolph Gassaway sac-fly to right field. The only other IronBird hitters to collect a hit were Jamill Moquete and Hector Veloz. RHP Matthew Grimes got to start for the IronBirds and went just three complete innings. Grimes allowed five runs (three earned), off of six hits and struck out two. Stefan Crichton came in relief of Grimes in the fourth inning and saw similar results. Crichton went two complete innings giving up five one earned run off five hits and struck out three. With Sunday night's loss, the IronBirds were swept for the ninth time this season and fifth time on the road.
Hey Now, You're an All-Star
Jay Gonzalez, Austin Anderson and David Hess gathered under the bright lights of Brooklyn Tuesday night for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Gonzalez started the game in left field and went 0-2 on the night with one strikeout. Anderson hit in the third sport and started at third base, he went 0-2 in contest. Hess came on for a relief appearance in the seventh inning. Hess was spectacular as he didn't allow a hit or walk in his one inning of work.
Headed Home
The IronBirds open up a five game home stand on Wednesday night against the Hudson Valley Renegades. The IronBirds will have their work cut out for them as the Renegades come in leading the McNamara Division with a 41-22 record. RHP Chris Pike will get the nod for the Renegades as he brings a 2-1 record and 3.57 ERA into Aberdeen.
On the Mound tonight...
IronBirds' RHP Tanner Chelborad will face off against Pike on Wednesday. Chleborad brings a 1-2 record and a 3.42 ERA to the mound for a 7:05 first pitch.
