
Start Your August with the Captains at Classic Park

Lake County Captains News Release
The Captains will begin a six-game home stand tomorrow as the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Padres) and Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers) make their final regular season appearances at Classic Park this season.
The homestand begins with Thirsty Thursday, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR, featuring a 25-cent beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and fountain soda until 9 PM. A wing and pizza buffet will also be available outside the Corona Castaways Bar, featuring Happy Moose Bar and Grill wing sauces and pizza from Cleveland Pizza Company. Game time is 7 PM.
Thursday is also a Salute to Technology Night with the first 1,500 fans in attendance receiving a Captains Mouse Pad, courtesy of Koppel Advertising. The Captains will also be showcasing old technology and giving away 18 Cathode Ray 27-inch color televisions that are "game used" as they provided entertainment in the Classic Park luxury suites since the ballpark's opening in 2003 until being removed prior to this season.
Friday's 7 PM game will be followed by a Fireworks Friday Night presented by Universal Windows Direct.
Saturday is a 7 PM start time and is a special Star Wars-themed Fireworks Saturday Night presented by Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Captains Wall Decal presented by Bod Shotz by Bruce and Bruce Custom Graphics.
Sunday is a special 7 PM start and is a Family Fun Sunday, presented by the Lake County YMCA, featuring a pre-game player autograph session, concourse entertainment and activities, and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game. All kids in attendance will receive a Captains activities book and crayons, presented by the YMCA and Lake County Job and Family Services.
Sunday's game is followed by the final Fireworks Sunday Night, presented by Drug Mart.
Sunday is also Pirates and Princesses Night with pirates and princesses greeting fans at the park. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite pirate or princess outfit and fans may also purchase the Daddy Daughter Date Night Package which includes a sundae bar and princess cupcake. Costumed fans may also participate in a pre-game parade and all princesses receive a photo frame and tiara.
Monday is Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, Dan Dee chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card. Game time is 7:00 PM.
Monday is also Slovenian Heritage Night and traditional Slovenian food will be served and Slovenian music will be played during the evening's game.
The home stand concludes on Tuesday at 1 PM and is a special day time version of Bark in the Park. Dog owners are welcome to bring their dogs to Classic Park when they purchase a $5 pooch pass. A portion of the proceeds from the pooch passes will benefit Lake Humane Society & Adoption Center. Dog owners may purchase their tickets for a special $7 price. This is the final Tuesday Bark in the Park but there will be a special Wednesday edition that will take place on August 14.

The Captains Friday Night Concert Series continues with Abby Normal and the Detroit Lean on Friday. The nine-piece band covers many styles of music from Ska, Rock, Disco, Swing, and everything in-between. They will perform on-stage adjacent to Castaways Bar immediately following Friday Night Fireworks presented by Universal Windows Direct. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.

The Captains annual Star Wars Night will feature many Star Wars-themed events, including a pre-game costume contest and appearances by Star Wars character impersonators including Darth Vader, Princess Leia, C3PO and many more! Kids that dress up have the opportunity to participate in themed in-game promotions. Our own Captain Tony will be defending the Lighthouse from attack and fans who mention the promo code "JEDI" at the Box Office will receive $1 off the game day ticket price. The night of intergalactic fun will be capped off by an on-field lightsaber duel followed by Saturday Night Fireworks presented by Monreal Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Tuesday's game is a Dawg Day Tuesday. The first 500 kids 12 and under in attendance and dog owners will receive a full-size Webkinz plush dog. The dog is the sixth and final in a series of six different Webkinz dogs that are given away at Tuesday home games throughout the 2013 season. The game will also feature an appearance by Cleveland Browns Chomps!

Do you wear your sunglasses at night? The Captains game on Thursday, August 10 is home to Go Green Night featuring a sunglasses giveaway presented by Lake County Solid Waste District for the first 1,500 fans in attendance. The sunglasses are made from recycled materials, so Captains will look both stylish AND environmental responsible.
