January 8, 2021 - NBA G League (G League)
Salt Lake City Stars News Release

The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, will be one of 18 teams to participate in the NBA G League single-site campus as announced by the NBA G League today.

"While we are disappointed that we will not be able to play in front of our fans in Salt Lake City, we fully support the league's decision and appreciate the amount of effort by so many that has gone into finding a workable solution to be able to play a 2020-21 NBA G League season," said Stars President Jonathan Rinehart. "We look forward to the opportunity to once again host games in Utah in the future."

The single-site campus will tip-off in February at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney Resort near Orlando, Fla. Participating are 17 returning NBA G League teams along with the new G League Ignite team which features several top 2021 NBA draft prospects. The top eight teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff. A complete schedule, roster and broadcast information for the Stars fifth season will be announced at a later date.

Players, coaches, team and league staff living on the NBA G League's campus at Walt Disney World Resort will be guided by comprehensive leaguewide health and safety protocols, which are based on the core principles of social distancing, mask wearing, hand hygiene and COVID-19 testing.

"We are excited for the opportunity to compete in Orlando and continue the development process for our players and staff," said Stars Vice President of Basketball Operations Bart Taylor. "We had an excellent 2019-20 season on the court and anticipate building off that momentum under new head coach Nathan Peavy."

Peavy was announced as the Stars' third head coach in August and has served as an assistant coach for the Stars since the 2017-18 season. Peavy helped guide the Stars to two playoff appearances and an improved winning percentage in each season in his time on the bench.

The Stars finished the 2019-20 season atop the Western Conference with a 30-12 (.714) record, amassing the most wins in a single season in Salt Lake City team history. The club also won the first-ever MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase Tournament last December in the midst of a 14-game winning streak, the longest in the NBA G League last season and tied for second-longest in a single season in league history. Off the court, the Stars were awarded with the 2019-20 NBA G League Social Responsibility Award for their efforts.
