Stars Take Down Spurs

CEDAR PARK, Tex. - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, defeated the Austin Spurs 104-98 on the road tonight, picking up the club's fourth consecutive win.
The Stars were led by William Howard, who scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-15 (.600) from the field and 5-of-8 (.625) from three-point range. The center also tallied eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks. Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley recorded his first NBA G League double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. He also dished out seven assists and grabbed two steals. Trevon Bluiett scored a season-high 17 points on 5-of-7 (.714) from the floor and nabbed three steals. Utah Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Foreman finished with 17 points, five assists, two steals and one rebound.
Dedric Lawson led the Spurs in scoring, finishing with 23 points on 10-of-13 (.769) from the field. He also tallied four rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench. San Antonio Spurs assignment player Keldon Johson posted 16 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Chimezie Metu, currently on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, finished with 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals off the bench.
The Spurs took their largest lead of the game (19 points) with 2:05 left in the second quarter, but the Stars responded with a 10-0 run to finish the period, cutting the lead to nine (55-46) at the half. Salt Lake City came out of the break hot, outscoring Austin 31-12 in the third quarter, to take a 10-point lead (77-67). William Howard posted 10 of Salt Lake City's 31 points in the period. The Spurs fought back in the fourth quarter, narrowing the Stars' lead to four points (94-90) with 2:42 left in the game but Salt Lake City held their advantage, outscoring San Antonio 10-8 down the stretch to secure the 104-98 victory in Austin.
The Stars held the advantage in three-pointers (16-8), rebounds (45-42), assists (19-18) and steals (10-7), while the Spurs knocked down more field goals (44-36), tallied more points in the paint (60-32) and committed fewer turnovers (15-21).
The Stars will complete their two-game road swing with a game at the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) on Tuesday Nov. 26, at 6 p.m. (MT), which will be broadcast on ESPN+.
