
Stars Fall Short, Lose 3-1 to Sioux City

Lincoln, Neb. - The Sioux City Musketeers used a two-goal first period to top the Stars, 3-1, on Thursday night in the Ice Box.
Sioux City forward Matt Steeves opened the scoring three minutes into the first period, shooting off a faceoff win from forward Connor Sundquist.
Forward Teemu Pulkkinen stretched the lead to 2-0 on the power play at 4:57 of the first period. Scheid and Ryczek earned assists on the play.
Lincoln made it 2-1 at 6:12 of the second period with Grant Jozefek's power play goal. Patrick Polino was awarded an assist on the goal.
The Musketeers outlasted the Stars in the third period, icing the game with Eeli Tolvanen's empty net goal at 19:42 to make it a 3-1 final.
The teams combined for 105 penalty minutes as the Stars went 1/5 on the power play and 5/6 on the penalty kill.
Stars goaltender Patrik Virtanen finished with 32 saves.
The Stars return to action on Saturday, January 15 in Kearney to face the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm.
