Bloomington Thunder News Release
CHICAGO, Illinois - After a historic night for the Bloomington Thunder in Muskegon, MI, forward Logan Lambdin was recognized by the United States Hockey League as the CCM Forward of the Week Thursday evening. This is the third win by the Thunder for Player of the Week as both goaltenders, Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan) and Logan Halladay were garnered with the honor this season. The second year forward netted his first career hat trick over the weekend and added five points (3g, 2a) to his season total including his fifth multi-point game.
"It's an amazing feeling, I don't even know what to say," said Lambdin with a smile on his face when he heard the announcement. In an addition, he was still on a high from the hat trick five days earlier. "I really haven't felt anything better to be honest. I've never had a game like that. I was just seeing holes and openings that aren't always there and was able to bury my chances."
Lambdin, 20, is in his second full season with the Thunder and in the USHL. On Friday night, the 5-foot-9 forward picked up a helper on Tarek Baker's (University of Wisconsin) second goal of the game against Muskegon. He then followed it up with an unbelievable performance in his home state of Michigan on Saturday. The Carleton native netted three goals in the game, including the game winner, and his second assist of the weekend.
When the final buzzer sounded, Lambdin walked away with two records to put in the Thunder's history books. His career-high night of four points featured the Thunder's first hat trick in team history and also the second fastest goals ever scored by the team. His third of the game found the back of the net 28 seconds after taking a 4-2 lead. The separation was just eight seconds longer than two goals scored by Max Gottlieb (Brown University) and Jack Jenkins (University of Notre Dame) on November 28 in a 3-2 win over Team USA. Lambdin's markers were the fastest ever scored by an individual player on the Thunder. Baker quickly followed in the game earning the second hat trick in team history on an empty net goal.
"We didn't talk much about it during the game," said Lambdin as the two forwards jockeyed for the team lead in points throughout the night. "We were really supportive of one another during the night, hoping for the best for each other and the team victory."
Logan joined the Thunder in the early stages of their expansion as a seventh round selection in the 2014 Phase II Draft. Playing in the North American Hockey League with the Port Huron Fighting Falcons in 2013-14, Lambdin was the second leading scorer with 38 points (19g, 19a) in 59 games played. Before joining the NAHL he spent time with both Belle Tire and Victory Honda in the T1EHL from 2011 to 2013.
The first league recognition for Lambdin comes while the organization is 8-2-0-0 in their last ten games with the team in fourth place of the Eastern Conference at exactly halfway through the season. Baker currently leads the program in points with 21 (12g, 9a), but Lambdin is right on his tail with 19 (11g, 8a). His 19 points this season best his 18 total from 2014-15.
