Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Dubuque Fighting Saints made a generous donation to UnityPoint Health Finley Health Foundation to help raise awareness and fight men's cancer. On Wednesday, January 14, the Dubuque Fighting Saints presented the Finley Health Foundation with a gift of $4,815 from the proceeds raised during the team's November 28 "No Shave November" night, presented by Finley Health Foundation and Finley Hospital.
"The Dubuque Fighting Saints, Finley Hospital and Finley Health Foundation have a long history of partnering to raise awareness and help fight cancer in the Tri-State area," said David Brandon, President and CEO of Finley Hospital. "This year's "No Shave November" night was fun for the hospital, the team, and the fans. More importantly, it raises awareness for men's cancer and the funds help patients right here in Dubuque."
The Dubuque Fighting Saints hosted the "No-Shave November" night on November 28, after running a month long promotion that showcased players and staff growing out their facial hair to raise awareness. The Fighting Saints logo even got in the spirit of the event and grew a mustache throughout the month showing off its progress on social media. Special one-of-a-kind jerseys that featured a blue color scheme to raise awareness for prominent men's cancers, and a modified primary logo with a mustache, were auctioned off after the game. The totals raised through that auction contributed to the donated amount. This season marked the 6th consecutive season that the Fighting Saints partnered with, and donated to, UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital.
